MY SPECIALTIES
INDIVIDUAL COUNSELING
I provide individual counseling via telehealth utilizing an eclectic approach where I pull from cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy techniques with a solution focused mindset to meet the individual's therapy goals.
ADOLESCENTS
I often see adolescents and am able to connect with them in a way their parents often can't. Part of this is simply because I'm not their parent (although there are 4 teenagers in my home!), and part of that is validating pain they have experienced and providing hope for the future.
UNIFORMED SERVICES
I'm experienced in treating first responders to include police, EMS, paramedics, firefighters and wildland firefighters. Trauma is part of a daily life and old news in a sense as part of the job, so I work with you to learn when to disconnect from feelings and when to process through them.
MILITARY FAMILY STRESSORS
As a prior military spouse, I'm familiar with the MANY acronyms that are not part of civilian life. I am also very aware of the frequent stressors that can become part of daily life: deployments, frequent moves, suicide of friends and family, PTSD, and transition in or out of military.
RELATIONSHIP COUNSELING
Our relationships take up a large part of our thoughts which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on the relationship. Whether it be with your partner, friend, child or parent I work to help you have better communication, boundaries and peace in your relationships.
STRESS & TRAUMA
We all have a story. But some people's story needs some extra support. When we experience trauma, even the simple idea of what to eat for lunch can become a stressor. There is no judgment on your "level" of trauma. Maybe it's your parent won't let you date, maybe you witnessed a horrible accident or death, maybe it's child abuse or sexual assault or moral injury. Healing and peace are possible utilizing dialectical behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques.
MOOD DISORDERS
I'm experienced working with Depression and Bipolar Type I and Bipolar Type II. Often times mood disorders are misdiagnosed. I can help make sure you have the right diagnosis and in turn the right treatment plan.
ANXIETY DISORDERS
Anxiety disorders previously include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in their subcategories. While this is no longer the case (PTSD in it's own category), I am still able to assist with this as well as General Anxiety Disorder and social anxiety with cognitive behavioral therapy and phobias with exposure therapy.
